Lucille Travels: goes to Mt. Ulap

Mt. Ulap is located in Itogon, Benguet. The entry point is at Brgy. Ampucao and the exit point is at Sta. Fe. It is a 1846 MASL mountain and you could finish it in a 5-6 hours of dayhike, it is also an easy mountain to hike if you're around Baguio City. Going there you could take a jeepney from the city proper going to Brgy. Ampucao, or if you are bringing your car, you may also do so since they have a parking lot in the area. Once you are in the area you need to register at the barangay hall and then secure a guide. (Mandatory) After that the guide will orient you about the hike and the three peaks and attraction of Mt. Ulap, the Ambunao Paoay, Gungal Rock and Mt. Ulap Peak. The guide told us that it is somehow a mini Mt. Ugo because of the pine and grassland ridges.

This is the welcome sign after the first uphill moment from the registration area. Word of caution, it is really a struggle for the first 15 mins. But after that you'll finally be able to see the pine trees and grassland areas. It is also a bonus that the weather is nice, even if you're really sweating hard because of exhaustion.

As you traverse going to Mt. Ulap summit you'll be able to see a lot of this awesome areas good for photo ops as well.

With Let, my friend from work.

At one of the cliff edges you'll be able to pass going to Ambunao Paoay.

The one in the red Shirt is our guide, in the yellow shirt, Reige, my boyfriend George and Let my friend. We were at the summit of Ambunao Paoay but sadly there's no clearing because of the thick clouds. I was really just enjoying it even if it means we won't be able to have a decent Picture on top of the gungal Rock, which is what's been circulating in my mind before this hike. The prfect shot at Gungal.

And tadah, I wasn't able to have a clearing, but it's just okay. I'm still happy I got to stand here even if it was really scary to look at the people who were there before us. I was lucky my knees didn't weaken at that time and I was able to stand. 🤗😁 (sobrang edited na yan, wala padin 😂😂)

On our way to the summit, we saw this beautiful log. We just really had to pose, and do silly shots, but I'm including just my favorites here.

At the summit of Mt. Ulap.

Slowly becoming our signature pose. ❤️❤️

I don't really have a lot of photos from the descent part because we were concentrating hard on not falling butt first or face first. Mind you, it was really hard, coming from a girl who loves descends more than the ascents. But you'll be fine after, maybe just a few sore from your legs after a few hours. Don't worry, we still got to do a quick Baguio getaway the day after that. I won't really recommend this to first time hikers, unless you did a few exercises  prior to the climb. Remember to pack light as well, there are stores just after the summit so don't worry about not bringing enough water or food.

Till next travels,
- Lucille
